Everynow and then when people gets depressed, one think of monkhood but seldom in times of happiness...is that a right approach?

there is no right and wrong answer i think...

same as those who did charity only when they have a kind or good mood and not when it should be done consistently and regularly....is that a right approach as well?

So i think just leave it to the person's own conscience in the end - if he chose it at a moment's fit, he would soon tire and give up being a monk....

yes. even if you become a monk, you will disrobe eventually one day. to want to be a monk, one need to have thoughts of renunciation not to escape from realities of life, but to strive to attain salvation ie Nirvana.

dhamma ending age, you get a lot of fake monks, cults and all sorts of new teachings corrupting the dhamma.

I don't think anyone can know the numbers. There is no conducted survey for Arhants.

All I can say is, one must have the right aspiration to renounce, and not renounce it for selfish purposes.

There was this incident related to me by a friend while he was in Thailand. His guide was telling him when he got older, he is going to enter monkhood again. Thinking he was going to get a profound answer from the guide, he asked him why.

The reply was, when he gets older and unable to work for a living and isgoing to be impotent anyway, by ordination,he would get fed and will be celibate anyway! Ha! Ha!

Many young men romanticise about monkhood thru the media thinking life in the countryside is more pleasant with zen training.

Samurais, ninjas and warrior monks also adds up to the suspense, are we still living in feudal age?
