Buddhism originated from India. Burning of joss sticks and
burning incense paper are the practice of Taoism.
Sometimes you will see Buddhist Temples burning joss sticks and
incense paper, that is to convenience the taoists who also go to
Buddhist Temple for prayers.
Most of the Buddhists who have taken the 3 refuge will not burn
incense paper but will hold joss sticks. For me, I hardly hold joss
sticks. I pray to Buddha according to Buddhist practice.
Buddhism does not practice medium (god possess body). If you see
medium in the temple, it is definitely not a Buddhist Temple.
Buddhism also discourage feng shui and fortune telling.
