you really need to understand about tectonic plate movements in this world, where seismic activity occured in the pacific rim countries like Indonesia, Japan etc.

as for kamikaze, it was a desperate attempt to win the war it was losing then, sacrifising one's life to achieve that aim. its the Japanese samurai warrior spirit.
