Isis SG I'm troubled.. cos my mum is greatly attached to her children. Always taking care of us and feeling the obligation to do this and there for us. It is very hard for me to assure her that we have already grown up, as she had said she felt happy doing things for us. On the other hand, i can't stand feeling "angry" when she felt stressful about doing certain thing for us cos in the first place, i don't ask for it. And when she felt stressful, she get really nasty "hot-quick-temper". On the other hand, i feel like i have been taking her for granted.. not taking enough care of her : ( My question is: hw can i help her lessen her this attachment?
bohiruci SG relaz ...bring mum out for a walk to the nearest shopping centre ,buy her a piece of jewellery or even just window shopping Social pyschologist termed this as reassurance to the elders then she will be at peace . Of course the best is encourage her to go and understand Buddhism and practice. It is what we called the Great Fillial Piety to deliver your parents out of samsara some may want to know where the term Great Fillial Piety come from ...it is from Ven Ou-I on Fillial Piety by Children .
<Precious> SG Yup, I know this feeling. My mum's apron strings are super long too but well, what can we do? They are our moms...... Much as we dun like trhem to "interfere" with our stuff, getting angry with them is just not right. Guess the better way would be to just tolerate lor..... We dun want to abandon them in their old age, do we?
Isis SG Actually i quite worried, that this attachment will carry on when she passes on *touch wood *.. How can i help my loved ones to cross over to Pureland?
AndrewPKYap SG Unless she wants to... otherwise it will do more harm than good... slow talk, little by little, persuade, convince, give her examples, start with "little" attachments... hey, she is your mum, you have lots of time to slowly convince her...
