Bogus Monks in Geylang

read today Sunday Times, exposed 50 fake monks and nuns staying at Geylang.

These bogus monks came to Sg under the guise of religious robes, on social visit passes have been preying on heartlanders, they appeared to be operating under a syndicate operating in JB and Hatyai.

Police came under a tipoff from the Sunday Times and no offence was committed, no arrests were made, but they were warned that begging or soliciting in Sg under charitable contributions false pretences can be fined $2,000 or jailed up to 3 months or both.

These people dunno how heavy this kamma is, read that can cause one to be reborn in avici hells if committed this act, correct me if I am wrong.

Ya always seem them in Geylang one.. *sigh*

Why can't people all wise up and know that monks don't collect money outside? Wasn't there already enough news publication about it?

But I dunno about the karma thing.

heartlanders are those uncles and aunties retired, sitting at coffee shops all day and night, and they are not buddhists, and even if they are, I doubt if they know about Buddhism and fake monks.

On the kamma part, its a very heavy deed committed by them as they are not monk, they put on the saffron robes which they do not deserved and begging for money for their own uses under false pretences.

Yea strangely despite all the news publications, so many people still do not know the presence of fake monks. I hope the authorities will get tough and catch all of them.
