Okay i sincerely apologise her from saying monks are useless
people.
Perhaps i shall re ask my question.
What if one day 70% of the guys in the world became monks?
Will they stick to their old morals or will they just have sex and
re produce for the over all benefit of human population.
Cause from what they see, some of the things they do arent very
practical.
Let's not talk about if 70%... because I think 30% is still
clearly enough for reproducing. (remember, a person can give birth
not only to 3, but also 4 or 5, even more than 10 children)
Let's say 99.999% of the people on Planet Earth became monks.
(which is just as ridiculous as saying 70% of humanity became
monks, anyway)
In such a case, I'm sure that many of the monks will voluntarily
leave the sangha because there is not enough lay persons supporting
their monastic way of life. Remember, monastic people depend on lay
person's financial support, so it's not just a matter of
reproduction. In Buddhism, lay practitioners are very important as
well.
But anyway since none of this will ever happen, ever, I shall stop
here and not waste time thinking about impossible 'Ifs...' which I
will probably go nuts because there will be millions and billions
of various impossible 'Ifs' cases that I can contemplate on, rather
than focusing my precious time on doing better things or practising
the Dharma.
