Hi,
in Japan the only two "buddhas" known to use crowns are Dainichi
(Vairocana) and Maitreya. However, to distinguish the two further
is that Maitreya Bodhisattva does not sit cross-legged. Also if i
do not remember wrongly the statues were cast in mainland china,
but it is true that the present-day Japanese Buddha statues are a
remainder of Tang Dynasty statues, as opposed to the Ming/Qing ones
we see in most temples today.
The Guanyin statue is the Ru-yi Guanyin, quite popular in Japan and
even till today, is still the main statue enshrined at the famous
Rokkakudo temple in Kyoto city.
