Very interesting film
The first part of the film is about the Buddha Boy (see
http://buddhism.sgforums.com/?action=thread_display&thread_id=166368)
is known to be practising a Tibetan yogic technique called Tumo
(evident from his sweating) which actually allowed him to stay warm
in the cold and he could also somehow preserve his energy,
metabolism etc, through his meditative absorption and survive
without food. The boy learnt meditation from the Sakya school of
Tibetan Buddhism and one of the Sakya rinpoches came to visit him,
and observe which meditation technique he is practising and he sat
in front of him for an hour. The 'buddha boy' was recorded on video
for several days to prove that he indeed could survive without food
and water in meditation. Another person they visited not far away
was Prahlad Jani, who is able to survive without food at all for 65
years. See: http://www.amazingabilities.com/amaze5a.html,
they also interviewed this man and the doctors who studied him and
put him under camera observation for days had proven that he indeed
could survive without food.
The second part is about the system of recognising past-life Tulkus
in Tibetan Buddhism, which is also interesting. The true tulkus are
able to remember the details of his past life and is able to point
out everything you ask him about his past life accurately. Some of
the tulkus are very interesting. However many are sceptical of some
of the tulkus, because parents want their children to be recognised
as tulkus so they report seeing auspiscious sights and dreams, and
it no longer becomes 'rinpoche chooses tulkus' but 'parents choose
tulkus', and therefore the government intervened by having stricter
control over which tulkus are 'admitted'.
