whereismyrib SG Hi, just to understand why some Buddhists can eat beef and why some cannot. Is it that they are from different school of thoughts? Please expound. Thanks
sinweiy SG it's been asked before: http://www.sgforums.com/?action=thread_display&thread_id=180539 http://www.sgforums.com/?action=thread_display&thread_id=160469 /\
paperflower SG i quit eating beef since 1998. due to not enough proper knowledge about buddhism then, i took a vow with bodhisattva avalokiteshvara that i'll never consume beef ever again. it used to be my fav meat. a vow is a vow, i'll still honour it.
marcteng SG for muslims, pork is a taboo. But shd have such beliefs that certain animals cant be eaten, if not humans will slaughter for their meat dun u think so. Good to have such a beliefs to save these poor animals for their meat or fur.
Isis SG i tried to clarify with my friends that buddhist can Eat Beef But he told me his family all practised non-eating beef tradition due to buddhism. This belief is rather deeply-grained. He could of cos believe more in his parents than me. Then another friend chip into the conversation and told me only deeply-devoted buddhist people DO not eat beef.
