The great goddess Sarasvati, likewise (the god¬dess) who dwells
in the (river) Nairanjana, Hariti, the mother of BhUtas, and the
Earth-goddess Drdha, the Brahma-kings and the Thirty-three kings,
the powerful rulers of the serpents, the kings of the Kimnaras and
the kings of the Asuras, likewise the kings of the Garudas, (4)
these, having approached there with the might of their armies and
with their vehicles, will provide protection for them, by day and
by night, unwearying(4~. I will make known this sutra, the
pro¬found Buddha-region, the marvellous mystery of all the Buddhas,
for millions of aeons.
Those who hear this sutra and who cause others to hear it, whoever
rejoice in it, and those who do honour to it, will be honoured
throughout numerous millions of aeons by gods, serpents and men, by
Kimnaras, Asuras and Yaksas. The heap of merit arising from them is
endless, incalculable, inconceivable, for those beings who have
performed merits. They will be gladly accepted by the Buddhas in
the ten directions and likewise by the Bodhisattvas, whose career
is profound. Having put on clean robes, wearing well-perfumed
clothes, having produced a mind (full) of love, one must do honour
untiringly. One should make one's mind, self, pure (and) expansive.
(5) Purify (your) thoughts and hear (this) excellent sutra.
Those who hear this sutra, welcome among men and a well-gained
fruit of human existence, will live a good life. Those into whose
ear this instruction enters will have their merit-roots ripened and
be praised by numerousmillions of aeons by gods, serpents and men,
by Kimnaras, Asuras and Yaksas. The heap of merit arising from them
