This prophecy made by a monk over a century back is explained in details by Master Hsuan Hua. Master Hsuan Hua is well known for his spiritual penetration... so I wouldn't be surprised if this turns out to be true. The monk 100 years ago predicted everything that happened in China for 100 years period... accurately.

Page 5 bottom part onwards... is about the present situation of China and Taiwan to the future.

Actually that article was good - its not all about prophecy, most part of it is talking about the history of China (and Taiwan). If you wish to know more you can read it. Doesn't mean Buddhist cannot read about history or about the future... if that's the case we don't need to read newspaper or study history anymore.

In many large-scale Dharma assemblies, general interviews, and meetings, the Venerable Master has analyzed in great detail the "Prophetic Poem of the Great Events of One Hundred Years in China" by the Great Master Bu Xu. What is the reason for this? History is like a bright mirror. The ancients, hoping that their descendants would learn from history in order to avoid making the same mistakes, wanted them to use the mirror of history as a guide to correct the errors of the past and to modify their behavior in the future.

My Master Shen Kai had also warned that a great catastrophe may strike Taiwan in the future.

He got the ability to see the future?

Not all predictions come true u know. Only the Buddha prediction is accurate.
Even some arahants prediction do not come true due to some factors, like conditions.

Yes, actually my master did not make a statement but said something like 'I wonder whether Taiwan will be able avert the catastrophe...' meaning there MIGHT be a chance Taiwan may be able to avert it. But dunno whether can anot... maybe Taiwanese unwholesome karmic power is very heavy. I did not hear it myself, but I heard from my mom... so I don't know what he said exactly. But some of the things he said decades ago came true already.

The future is a mirage, the past is already over, but we can learn from the past mistakes and apply to the present, which is here and now.

Anyway, the present moment is always on the move , that is, it does not stand still. The present, which is here and now at this moment, is already past isn't it.

Speaking about taiwan, as a chinese, I really hope that china and taiwan will reunite peacefully one day. If without intervention from US and Japan, taiwan already in reunification discussion talk with mainland china.

Civilisations rise and disappear, and proof of its existences is the fossils or remains buried underground.

Let us not be 2 overly concern about the future, as the future has not arrived yet. Live the moment, but learn from past mistakes and historical events.
Hope there is not a world war 3 as world war 2 destroyed 2 many people's lives.

Any wonder why there are diseases like sars, ebola, aids, avian flu appear in this age? Could it be that values have degenerated and famines, drought, weather changes, diseases and war served as a reminder to mankind as a warning before its 2 late?

?? Maybe it is the Unwholesome Karmic power of the CCP that is in question.

The Taiwanese have no reason to unify with the PRC and go back under the shackles of One PartyRule. They fought the KMT for 50 years to come out of such a situation.

I agree with crazyazn, why should the Taiwanese want to reunify with Communist Mainland? I'm not afraid to say i am more of the option that it's much better that Taiwan become independent. Afterall, they built up the country themselves (and not ashamedly, with the Japanese "helping" during the colonisation, and most older Taiwanese admit that the Japanese were kinder in some aspects compared to the KMT!), and i think that they see what is happening in Hong Kong under the "one country two systems" is in fact, detrimental to the Hong Kongers (cos they're getting quite sidelined with influx of mainlanders into it), so they probably don't want that. Why should they give up what they built up themselves and give it up with two hands to the Communists? Another reason, Buddhism might suffer quite a bit if they went back under Communist rule.
If Taiwan were to unite with mainland, they'd prefer to do it under a democratic china, not a communist one.

I understand that many Taiwanese would want independant rule, if I were a Taiwanese myself I would also want independant rule, but wanting is one matter. Whether you can take up the consequence is another matter. If Taiwan were to declare formal independance, it is 100% sure that China will strike back massively.

Anyway both sides have unwholesome karma, because casualties will come from both sides when war strikes. When communal karma is strong in the country, catastrophes will affect the masses.

BTW isnt the former KMT president Lee Teng Hui himself pro-independance?

What I meant by unwholesome karma simply means the Taiwanese - whether innocent or supporters of independance alike, will suffer out of communal karma. The intentions of each political party is not in question here.

Anyway the interpretation of the zen master's prophetic poem was made around 20 years ago already. In time to come we shall see how true it is.

Hong Kong case is different cos hk was ceded cos china lost the opium war to UK.

In my view, I hope Taiwan reunites with China for the sake of its people cos china is serious in invading taiwan if it proclaim its independence. if a war arises in the cross trait, what will happen to the region, lives, properties and the economy. anyway, if taiwan reunites with china, look at the business prospects of the mainland, not to mention the protection by china in terms of security.

Again I am not siding any political parties here, but when I went to China to visit the Buddhist mountains with my dharma teacher and other practitioners from my dharma centre, we noticed that the government has laxed on religious restrictions. Religions are definitely recovering under the Communist rule, the era of Cultural revolution is long over.

During our visit, Jiang Zemin visited Jiu Hua Shan (mountain of the Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva), some of us saw him. We had to change hotel the day before because Jiang Zemin occupied the entire hotel we were supposed to go. Many many bodyguards etc - the bodyguards asked the hotel people to close their windows but we refused and if not wrong someone even shouted back to greet Jiang Zemin so the bodyguards had no choice Laughing But anyway we spoke to the abbot of the Jiu Hua Shan, who has in turn spoken to Jiang Zemin before we visited him, said that Mr Jiang is quite supportive of the Buddhist developments and he is hopeful.

actually not all idea of Communism is bad.
the idea of classlessness is also a teaching of Buddha of equality. no?
if can live in a place where people sharing their common goods is not a bad idea though. Wink but people would become lazy when all wait for others to do thw work. Sad
