Being a pro or professional in something means having the expertise or knowledge in that field, so acting pro means acting as if they have knowledge or expertise in something. If you are saying they are acting pro, by implication you mean they actually do not possess that knowledge.

Let's take an Arhat. Does an Arhat need to know all the sect rules and practises in order to become an Arhat? No he doesn't. The Arhat is the pro, and the scholar is the knowledgeable.

This all boils down to the word "pro". In other countries I don't know, but in Singapore, the word "pro" is often used to mean people who are skillful, or expert. A pro soccer player does not have to have tons of knowledge about soccer history or whatever. He just plays. Looking at my topic title, don't you think this is in context of Singlish?
