There is one thing I would like to add on regarding to the
dedication of merits to the spirits or deceased. One important
thing is to let the spirit know that you are going to dedicate the
merits to them, which I believe was mentioned by concerned_man. The
spirit should be present at the assembly when you are dedicating
the merits.
