I am not making a sweeping statement (in fact I am only asking
whether you have come across it, not saying that you really did),
the reason why I mentioned 60,000 related to I-Kuan-Dao is because
I have read the I-Kuan-Dao's version (I know they have their own
version but cant remember the exact number well): http://www.with.org/ten-en.htm
Sixth Sermon
Bells are used to sound hours. Here to ring the golden bell means
to sound warning to humans.
Thirty six hundred saints and forty eight thousand sages is the
number of peerages to be conferred at the Long Hua
Assembly.
But I believe you also agree with me that i-kuan-dao fake version
on maitreya is really crappy...
As for your book on pure land practise, it may have said 60000
also... but I have not read before, therefore I don't know. I do
remember however, that Maitreya will teach for 60,000 years before
he passes away into great nirvana.
hmmm , dun ask me , ask the author , if u have doubt ,the author
also in doubts ??
there is a source they follow .... so dun doubt me ..provide me the
source and i convinced ,the actual data where u can find this
Maybe there are slightly different interpretations, but I
believe this is not very important.
But anyway, all Buddhas are known to have a Bodhi Tree... the Bodhi
tree which Maitreya Buddha sits under is called the 'naga tree'. Or
could it be possible that you have forgotten/mixed up the terms?
Maybe they said something like our current bodhi tree is different
from their bodhi tree. Just a guess, I may be wrong. But I think
not worthy to argue on such little interpretational
differences.
