An Eternal Now SG Sure a simple example is that a genius scientist might not mind creating a nuclear bomb (which may be one day used for a nuclear war)... while a wise person would not do this. Basically we need to be wise and aware of our mind, speech, actions. That is by not deceiving others, knowing the cause and effect, knowing if one's actions will benefit everyone... or cause harm to oneself and others... only through this will we be devoid of any sufferings and miseries. 'Jue' (awareness) can also mean "awakening" (jue wu).. only with wisdom and mindfulness will we not be affected by Greed, Anger/Hatred, Ignorance. I believe Wisdom can also be seen as a form of maturity. I don't have any working experience or boss experiences because I myself like LinYu is also a student now... so.... fail then fail lor Doesn't mean I will never quit the job also Btw, soemt mentioned about giving up/letting go. Actually 'give up' is not really letting go/non-attachment. If we maintain non attachment all the time in our job, then giving up is only a manifest of wisdom that we really are not capable of that job. Also, we should not easily give up on situations. Because everything is an opportunity for our cultivation and practise. This is how wisdom is gained - through cultivation and various experiences. I must say I do not have much experience in the working world yet... and I am lack of wisdom. My compo exams ended yesterday. hehe

LinYu SG If I were to be given this question, I will explain like this. It is not whether we are in the 20th, 21st or 22nd century. The problems still remain the same. GO BACK TO BASIC. The basisis of the Buddha Teaching of 4 Noble Truth and Eight Fold Path and apply them into your everyday life. That is the application of Buddha teaching in whatever time.

An Eternal Now SG Life may seem much more complex than the past, but essentially Buddhist practise remains the same...
bohiruci SG Buddhist should actively help in the propagation of the Buddhadharma and not just giving their donation and dont bother liao sometimes i feel many Buddhist are event Buddhist , vesak day and Buddha birthday , u see them turning up, while like ordinary day , u dont see them in temple i feel religion have a low issue of importance in singapore society people only seek religion when they have difficulties ,and that is not a gd trend
An Eternal Now SG I agree. My dharma centre for example, usual days around a hundred people. Vesak day several hundred people. LOL, and this is the trend in all other monasteries too. I think they shld have a good understanding dharma, and start practising. Don't waste this lifetime in pursuit of material things. If not, after death, you'll have to start the whole process again, learning how to walk, studying, etc etc
