People like to cling to one idea and miss the other.
Giving an analogy by MCK. A person standing on the convex side of a
cup argued that the cup is convex from his perspective. Another
person standing on the other concave side of the cup argue that the
cup is concave. Each of them cling to their view is right. They are
not able to see it from a wider perspectives, that both are
correct. The cup is both convex and concave. Moreover, there are
not just 2 sides, but multiple sides in phenomena.
In category, there are 8 sides fa, which are ti3(body),
xiang4(visual?), yong4(usage), yin1(cause), yuan2(conditions),
guo(effect), li3(noumenon), shi4(phenomena).
If one can view from this eight, then one's view can be
proper.
Eventual, Master added, view from this 8 is just the surface! Then
what's more profound? If see deeper, there's but one root. Within
each eight there are 8 more. ie ti3(body) got 8 fa, etcs. And
within the sub eight, there are infinity more 8 fa! Buddha is the
one able to witness this.
