Remembering Singapore the way it was

Time moves pretty fast. Speaking of those days, I'm probably the last 20th century kid who still remember everything, before 21st century.

Right now listening to grandmother songs, one from the movie 'Music Man' by Shirley Jones title is 'Till there was you'

Anything smelly must go.Yes ,you did say you had swum in the rivers when you were a kid...how you tahan ar? River clean up didnt happen until decades later and before that Kallang must have been the mother of all champion rivers.

Not stink during high tide near Fullerton back in the 40s.

Dad bought a membership of the Chinese Swimming Club in Katong after the war knowing I like to swim. I swam on every weekend.

Singapore was the bully kecik team in the Malaysia Cup up till the 70s.10 long years never lost a single game at the Kallang Stadium until David Lee let in one through a corner and Kelantan became the first team to beat Singapore fair and square (No kelong but got referee kayu)

Chew Bakar SG

Yes, everyone was crazy about Malaysian Cup, but I was never a football fan.

Short Ninja SG

Only had mixed feelings when they played Penang or when Singapore play Thailand in the Seap games other than that I had a part to play in the lion's roar.

The only football match I seriously watched was the World Cup Final in 1974 between Germany and Holland. The only reason was to catch the first live telecast of colour programme by RTS.

Other matches, hmm... can't even remember what's what.

excluding Indonesia and Philippines.
