Remembering Singapore the way it was

Time moves pretty fast. Speaking of those days, I'm probably the last 20th century kid who still remember everything, before 21st century.

the Bear SG

gotta be Lt Castillo of Miami Vice, Lt Mike Torello of Crime Story and Steve McGarrett (forgot his rank) of Hawaii Five-O

Hawaii Five-O had the most amazing intro music..

Short Ninja SG

Lt Mike Torello (Dennis Farina ) would have been my 4th choice did not choose him as my top three because he was obsessed with catching only one bad guy.I think Steve Mcgarett was the Police Captain.

but what a bad guy huh?

i loved that series even when there were only two seasons...

i mean, Ray Luca and Pauli were like cockroaches... they even survived a bloody nuclear explosion!

SBS7484P SG

Cockroaches are also known to survive high level of radiation.

Root was good cuz it made some of us want to find out who and what our ancestors did before coming to the little red dot (so that their descendants would one day become slaves>LOL) but you need to watch all the epsisodes otherwise you won't know the head or tail of a grandmother's neverending story.

the Bear SG

so.. Alex Haley traced his ancestor to Kunta-Kinte

well, that much i can remember of the series...

Although it was a controversial autobiography the book did inspire many black people to be proud of their African heritage.I hope someday someone would also come up with a BS family autobiography of a Peranakan to revive the Baba cuture and language once and for all.

the Bear SG

oh.. did anyone enjoy watching stuff like the West German "Telematch" which RTS used to show?

each village or province or town would play against another couple of towns.. i still find the props they use amazing and the games they had very hilariously original

Yes,it was funny to see 'big headed' people running on an oily surface and getting sprayed by a fire hose.Singapore did try to do their own inter contituency telematches but failed>LOL

Remember the 80s chinese show where they match make couples????

Something like Dragon Pheonix match?????

Honeybunz SG

mom loved the HK series like 楚留香 and 天龙八步

they had really crappy "special effects" compared to the ones now, but everything came to a standstill each time the episodes came on

A lot of slow motions during the fighting scene and jump up and down the trees or pillars just like that, but of course, again with slow motions.

funny.. a contrast of methods..

now when my mom watches some shows, i see that they actually speed up the action instead of slow-mo...

the Six-Million Dollar Man

whenever he ran, it was in slo-mo
