Every organisation is different so it is hard to say, but in
general, it is some what true cos corp dev is a cost centre and
usually not a 1st tier do or die dept like operations, finance,
IT
If the company is substanical size, chances are they are the one to
go 1st is high, cos their portfolio can be decentralize to various
depts.
For example, I am reporting to a Director of Corporate Development
where by the HR and Admin people also report to him. So if he is
gone, the HR/Admin mangers and myself will simply report to the MD
directly instead.
