Power and responsibility of a Executive

hi all, a simple question. Smile

I don't really understand what role does an executive in a company plays. Is an executive considered a lower class version of manager? will an executive eventually be promoted to manager?

now a lot of positions also called executive...cause it sounds nicer...sales assistants can also be called sales executive...sell insurance...financial executive...call centre people...customer service executive...

i think more important is the job scope that the executive does...only then can determine whether executive anot...

I think pretty much have to see what organisation you are talking about and what is the educational background of the executive. the term executive is used quite loosely.

but if generally there is a higher chance that degree/diploma-holder executives tend is more on the path towards managerial role..

those without are really just working for these executives.. so then there are even so called senior executives.. but again its quite loose. for example, a fresh grad can be called a senior executive.

then to the question of power and responsibility, its again quite hard to answer the question directly, its really a case by case response. but i think it would be logical to assume that typical fresh grad executives wont get to exercise a lot of that power/ get a lot of responsibilities.

in some organisations, the head (ceo) just decide all together to drop the O and call themselves chief executives..

Depending on what is your role, my ex coy employ me as an Executive but I function as a Manager.

Hence you need to look at your job role

in alot of companies, titles are bai sui one
anyone oso can be called executive, sometimes officer, some put xxxx manager but does get involved in management meetings and making decisions

Power and responsibility is given or taken by yr boss...

But in general , if u r an executive, u administrate, decision making, directing...
It just depends what u administrate , what decision u make and what u direct.

For example, if yr decision making is worth 100 billion, definitely, yr salary wont below 5k per month...

u can be an executive with executive paid but yr power and responsiblity may be stripped by yr boss... Then, u tan tio lor if u r not fired ...

likewise, u can be an executive but more power and responsibility given to u by yr boss... Then, u have the experience which means that u will have the chance to get promoted...

Many people recieve executive paid but cant cope with executive job scope
Thus, company split executive into junior executive, senior executive and blah blah...
So, if u r junior executive, it is just a training or testing ground for u...

executive - work independently + supervising

manager - oversee operations + authority to hire & fire.
