In the meantime, Japan has jumped on board (after years of
fighting over the rights) with their own remake of MY SASSY GIRL.
SMAP member Kusanagi Tsuyoshi is the male lead and Rena Tenaka is
taking on Jeon Ji-Hyun's classic part. It's a television drama for
TBS and it's set to air in April...probably long before the
American remake hits theaters.
The character backgrounds and plot details will be changed for the
drama. While the protagonists in the original film were college
students, this time the pair will be a marine biology professor
(Kusanagi) and an aspiring writer (Tanaka).
