Tuatau SG Opens 15 September 2005 Brothers Jake and Will Grimm, renowned collectors of folklore, have made a career out of traveling from village to village pretending to rid them of "enchanted" creatures. Their bluff is called, however, when they are forced by Napoleon's French government to investigate a haunted forest where girls have been disappearing mysteriously. What they discover leads to a series of adventures involving a real evil sorceress that mirrors that of mythology and the fables that the Brothers Grimm would eventually become famous for. After a long hiatus, director Gilliam tries to recapture the imagination of "Brazil" and "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" with this twist of a fairy tale. While the sets look fantastic, the plot seems to be lacking in purpose, thus making the eventual triumph of the brothers a little hollow. The acting talents of the two male leads Damon and Ledger are under-utilised as most of the time they were running around shouting their heads off. And, as in "The Matrix" sequels, Bellucci once again takes on a wallflower role as the evil enchanting sorceress. Disappointing adventure ride of a movie.

daface SG Let me begin by saying that director Terry Gilliam's films are an acquired taste, and usually don't go down well with the average moviegoer, including myself. While films like Twelve Monkeys were easier to grapple with, general audiences may find cult favourites like Brazil and The Adventures of Baron Munchausen less palatable. continues at http://anutshellreview.blogspot.com/2005/09/brothers-grimm.html
coffeeortea SG erm, this movie touches on quite alot of senses, if you don't like fairy tale kinda stories, then this is not a movie for you.. this movie is somewhat similar to lord of the rings, harry potter. however, LOTR and harry potter are UP there.. whereas i'd give this movie a 7.5/10 compared to the 9/10 ratings that lotr and harry potter receive
