Hot damn, speaking as a Miller fan who read Sin City when it was
first published, this movie is easily the best adaptation of a
comic book I've ever seen.
Mickey Rourke's Marv is very close to Miller's original portrayal,
although I thought he could have been a bit more menacing when he
spoke to Cardinal Roarke. Somehow, Clive Owen didn't fit my image
of Dwight, but he still pulled it off well. Possible the most
disappointing bit of casting was of Bruce Willis as Hartigan - the
role needed someone older. Benicio del Toro's portrayal of the dead
Rafferty was pretty off, though - he had a much more taunting tone
in the original comic.
The visuals, on the other hand, were absolutely spot on - the
impossible slopes on the road into Sin City, the cars flying over
humps, just perfect.
