Never was a fan of Rolex for some reason - find the designs too
understated to merit the hype

Yeah, it's a matter of personal preferences. The SD works
for me - it goes with a suit, a wetsuit and jeans all the same, and
it ticks along happily despite my being pretty rough on
watches. As for the booze, it's partly the bad influence of
some of my fellow Rolex collectors.
