Go easy on me, guys.....First, I lose the flat I was gonna get all thanks to HDB's new rules....Then, the DBS monkeys royally screwed me from behind with the...

that's dinner?

She had her calamari earlier on.

You see, they carry parangs around to compensate for the shortness of their willies.

The length of their willy is inversely proportionate to the length of the knife they carry.

Which is why gangsters carry parangs, while MacGyver only needs a Victorinox.

A Victorinox is overkill for MacGyver; he really only needs a paperclip and some chewing gum to escape from captivity, neutralize the terrorists and disarm the nuclear explosive device.

and pasta and tofu :)

Meia Gisborn SG

was at firearms training today....

will be firing a total of 300 rounds next week... on a Taurus M85 or something like that.. a little clone of the S&W.38 with a laser aiming system

Sounds like you're going to have fun!

Are you scored on your marksmanship? Do you get to take the gun home at the conclusion of the training?

i think if i wanted to, i could actually do what the guy did.. by writing theses for people who pay me... but i would be helping a lot of people cheat their way through their degrees, masters' and PhDs

no... but we do get issued with the things at certain places if we are ever posted there...

marksmanship.. if i get 80 out of 100 points... and i think with the laser, i should be able to get it...

and next year, for classification shoots, which i will have to go twice, if i score 80 or above for both, i get a miserly S$200... ahahahahaha

You get $200 for doing something enjoyable? NOT FAIR!

So, if you consistently fail to achieve the minimum score required for qualification, do they keep letting you shoot until you pass?

In Singapore or the US? If the former, dunno. Over here, the cost of commercially available ammo varies according to caliber, type of bullet within a given caliber, and demand for a caliber. As an example, you can buy 100 rounds of Winchester 9mm full metal jacket bullets at Wal Mart for about US$24. However, a mere 20 rounds of 9mm hollowpoint bullets intended for self-defense use can cost as much as US$50.

Of course, handloading your own ammo brings the cost waaaay down, to as little as US$9 for 100 rounds of 9mm.

question... keep shooting??? but but but ....would it be safe if the officer kept failing as he cannot shoohandle his "equipment" properly...?

Half of me was impressed. The other half found the article chilling.

That can only be the Hannibal Lecter effect.

laurence82 SG

You can buy ammo at your local hypermart? WTf

I'm assuming that somewhere along the line, the trainee's supervisor has to make the decision to fail him as "not qualifiable" if he continues to not make the grade.

i was like.. too... machiam like buying grocery...???

Meia Gisborn SG

Yes. It's really convenient. You can just pop into your local Wal*Mart and do all your shopping in one location: "Let's see... what do I need to get today? Eggs, milk, bread, cereal, dishwashing detergent, ammo, broccoli, margarine..."

The sad truth is that such things happen here also....which shouldn't be surprising. There's always a demand for such things.

I do look through my friends' papers at their insistence at times, and at the risk of sounding elitist, most of the time, the papers give me a headache.

Honestly, the english is bordering on atrocious in more cases than many would like to think.
