how to have a motion sensor around when patches patrols at night

and it'll pick up every mice, stray cat, birds and bats that
comes around at night ...
and it's silly, really ... I always telll my folks that if
anybody wants to break in at our neighbourhood, they'll choose one
with a merc or beemer parked outside ... not rice wagons ...
