my guild uses the dkp cost system. I'll explain here see if u
guys think its fair anot.
Each item is assigned a fixed dkp cost. Like trinkets are 12
dkp, tier tokens are 36 dkp and so on. If a person wants to "buy"
an item, they will simply pm "bid" to the ML. The ML/RL will then
compare which of the bidders has the highest dkp for his character
and the loot will then go to the winner. There is no difference
between ranks too. Each person that turns up for raids gets EXACTLY
the same dkp (unless deducted for whatever reasons like late,
severe cock-up, train set, etc. etc) so as long as you turn up for
raids consistently, u can get more dkp than those even if they are
officer and u can outbid them for items. There are situations that
the officers would decide who gets the loot though. Mainly when
they find that a player is not taking any loot for himself because
he wants to horde his dkp, they will force loot to him. Or when
someone has taken ALOT of gear and the gear he is bidding for is
only a "minor" upgrade, they might loot it to someone needs it as a
major upgrade. Non gear items like keys are usually given to the
tanks first (they are not RL/ML tho) then rolled for by the raid
once all the tanks have the key.
I prefer this loot system because as long as you put in efforts
to turn up consistently, you will get a chance to loot. Moreover,
it represents a communist system whereby everybody is equal
regardless of rank (although communism would not work in RL)
