a hard disk like edison chen's right ? ... right ?

I don't have a hard disk like Edison Chen's.... but suffice to
say that I've got enough data to get my privacy invaded and my life
messed up a few times over.
By the way..... to reformat the hard disk, is it just a matter
of inserting the recovery disk?
Never did reformatting before on my own.
