I remember sending one casualty there in the middle of the
night.
The poor fella had a snapped ligament and was in extreme pain. His
knee was swelling very, very badly.
Even then....
Guard comd: 'Is it a life-threatening injury?'
Me: 'No, but the casualty is in serious pain!'
Guard comd: 'I don't care! You must wait for the patrolling rover
to escort you!'
KNN.... we waited for ten minutes in the pouring rain in the middle
of the night for their patrol rover to come escort us....
The guard comd was probably just following SOP.... but would it
kill them to give him the authority to decide whether to just let
us pass?
