Singapore's Meteorological Services said a magnitude-6.5 quake hit Sumatra in an area 560 kilometres away from Singapore at about 10.51am. Indonesian meteorologists put the quake at magnitude 6.2. The National Environment Agency (NEA) said there have been reports of shocks in Kampong Glam and Whampoa. Callers to the MediaCorp News Hotline also said they felt tremors in the Central and Eastern parts of the island, including Farrer Road and Katong.
