It's a love story set in the National University of Singapore
between an Engineering 3rd year student and a Science Honours
student. Looks like it's timeframe occured in the period late 80s.
I identified it from the mention of a movie The Mission starring
Robert De Niro which came out in 1986. The girl's a high flyer
while the guy isn't. Lots of military metaphors here to bring
across the author's state of mind. It gives a very detailed account
of the examination system that NUS had then. Which I thought was
gross. Read the story to find out the ending. It's not the typical
