the Bear SG would be hilarious if they challenged him and drove him to bankruptcy... however, he knows who to pick.. he picks on those who he knows will not put up a fight
Meia Gisborn SG Did someone put a contract out for Mr. Sing's life? I can do the job for US$20,000 plus the cost of airfare and local accommodation.
the Bear SG the only company that brings anime into singapore.. you see their goddamned name on the packaging of all anime in singapore... thing is.. since when anime got VCD one??
the Bear SG the anime he brings in are substandard and more expensive than other places... the subs are.. uhh.. substandard.. he sells crap and i bet he presses a lot of them himself as the packaging is nowhere like the stuff we see from other places (so, who is the pirate here?) he goes and tells the press that singapore has the cheapest and best range of anime in asia... but what broke the camel's back is that he started to sue those who download anime... he somehow got a court order and forced the ISPs to reveal who downloaded anime.. then he sued those who did...
fudgester SG Oh well... back to my notes. Looks like it'll be a long night. On the bright side of things, I don't have any lessons tomorrow. Seeya guys. *me mysteriously disappears in a flash of lightning*
the Bear SG btw, awaiting av's test order.. if it gets through, we're pooling our orders and circumventing odex.. and i'm suggesting all the other otakus to do the same... boycott odex.. he may win the court case, but when those who buy anime avoid and circumvent him, he's taking a one way trip to the bankruptcy court...
Meia Gisborn SG Unless my memory fails me, I recall seeing anime DVDs by other companies (ADV, Geneon, Funimation, etc.) for sale at video stores on my last visit to SG late last year. They were pretty obscenely priced, though.
the Bear SG i don't know how they ended up so expensive.. but they are very very rare.. the only ones around these days which are not obscenely expensive are from odex.. they're probably special orders
sbst275 SG From what I know... There's parallel import for video sometime last year... Seriously I'm not in for parallel imports because it's too extreme.. But for such cases, it seems to be the option
littlestream SG ah sbs.........i watched the honour and passion drama liao. but up to episode 4 niah. like huang wen yong in there. tay ping hui looked very shuai in the uniform.
sbst275 SG I'm not sure abt videos I can only say for food... If it's parallel imported, the importer takes the risk if anything happens esp items like guni hoon
