Rhonda SG That's why I think I'll stay put in Melbourne. I think things will start to look much better once I get my own set of wheels! I think I need to be patient cause it takes time to grow to love a place. That's what my colleagues tell me. Some of them have been there for donkey years and they still tell me that they don't feel as if it's their new home. I guess it's good that there are so many migrants in Melbourne cause there's a sense of camaraderie amongst us sometimes.
SydneyLibrarian SG Hey that cost's quite reasonable! All the best... hope the day goes smoothly for you & you're able to get everything done on time
Rhonda SG My parents have flown off, I'm left all alone here, but strangely, I'm quite at peace although I miss them. Whilst they were around, I couldn't listen to my music, couldn't watch TV, couldn't stay up too late, etc etc etc. Now, FREEDOM!!!
the Bear SG point: if you see a possum run into the middle of the road when you are driving.. what do you do? seriously... be honest... do you cover your eyes and scream or do you take evasive action, or do you do a quick calculation, find it's safer for all around you to run over the possum and actually do? because i almost got killed when someone screamed, took her hands off the wheel, and covered her eyes with them... i had to take the wheel from the passenger seat, tell her to slow down and steer the car to the side and take over driving...
Rhonda SG Thanks! Think tomorrow and Monday, I'm going to do a last-ditch mad dash to go around stuffing my face silly! I'm very very happy with the shopping I did over yesterday adn today! Going back to Melbourne with a Nintendo DS Lite with a pretty crystal pink casing and I think NINE game cartridges! Also going home with a new Samsung 4GB MP3 Player! Not to mention like one ton of VCD's / DVD's! AND... one bottle of Golden Honey Choya, not available there!
SydneyLibrarian SG One of my library customers told me that when she came over from Singapore, it took her quite awhile to adjust... like between 5-7 years But after that, she grew acustomed to the place & learnt to love it
Rhonda SG Depends... if I'm on the expressway and there are cars on either side of me, then no way Jose I'll slow down cause it may cause a massive pile-up on the freeway! I'll say a quick prayer and... *gulp... pulpy possum. If I'm on a country road or empty street, I'll slow down and horn at it. If that fails to send it scooting, I'll wind down my window and yell at it! "Hey mate! Get moving, you!!"
SydneyLibrarian SG Wa lao eh... so dangerous! I don't understand why some drivers can take their hands off the wheel in a panic? I'd rather run down an animal than endanger my life (& others, too).
Rhonda SG I think it does take time to learn to love a place... just like it takes time for friendships to forge, and time for a husband / wife to love each other unconditionally.
Rhonda SG LinYu, don't laugh leh... I very malu! Anyways, no matter how old we are, our parents will still treat us like we're little kids. Sometimes, I had to remind my mom that I'm no longer a wee kiddo!
the Bear SG blind panic.. it happens.. in other news, i love driving home on the west coast highway viaduct on weekend nights.. that's the time i get to speed
Rhonda SG I'll do that... but I'll probably be in a momentary daze when I feel the car go "bump!" I'll also probably scream and say 'stuff' in the car.
SydneyLibrarian SG That resembles something I loved when I was in my mid-20s Can't remember the name, but I could only get it in Perth. A friend used to bring a bottle or two for me each time we met up
Rhonda SG Today at the last minute went out with elindra and av. av's eyes very sharp, helped me to pick out a really pretty crystal pink casing for my pink Nintendo DS Lite! I was blind, right in front of me, I didn't even see it, and all the while I was searching high and low for a pink casing!
