I loved the Bare Knuckle/Streets of Rage series.
I remember for the Japanese Bare Knuckle 3, there was a
stereotypical transvestite boss. He wore a leather motorcycle
outfit and would act in a very girly manner (slapping you, making
whiny sounds, etc). 
In the American version (Streets of Rage 3), they removed the boss
in the name of local sensibilities.
Unfortunately, they upped the difficulty too much as well. Streets
of Rage 3 in Normal mode is actually more difficult than Bare
Knuckle 3 in Hard mode.
