the Bear SG sounds like.. the flying things in the 94 version is useless when faced with a couple of turrets the endgame for ordos is one thing we all could never do.. try as the whole hostel might. the Atreides and Harkonnen ones were simple... sonic tanks wipe everything, and nukes blow up bases when all resources are drained
fudgester SG Yeah... Ornithopters are those light aircraft which can rain bombs on the target of your choice. Well, from what I can tell, they've toned down the damage that the missile turrets can do. The Ornithopters can now survive a few hits before they get destroyed. I personally hate sonic tanks. They damage everything in their path, which wouldn't be so bad if they didn't damage friendlies as well. And since they're the slowest tanks the Artreides have, they are almost inevitably at the rear of the armoured columns... which means that they can really damage my own units. I far prefer missile tanks... they're relatively resistant to damage, possess a long range, and can cause reasonable amounts of damage to both enemy armour and buildings. As for enemy infantry... I can always squish them.
the Bear SG thopters are that resilient in the 94 version too.. but i think the turrets.. i dunno.. i got more turrets than anything else... a LOT more anyway, never played the 2000 version... sonic tanks should always be your front piece.. move about 10 to 15 in a row... 1 step at a time.. they will obliterate everything within range.. then.. one more step forward slow but sure way of whacking everything
fudgester SG I guess that's the biggest flaw with my strategy. I just send a massive amount of armour into the enemy base and let 'em rip. But then again, factors like the terrain play a part too... the enemy base has bottlenecks for entrances due to the geography of the region. At some parts I can only have two or three tanks abreast. If I were to send them in order, the enemy would crush them row by row, in the style of the Battle of Thermopylae (the movie 300). So I have to quickly rush them into the base to deny the enemy this advantage... unfortunately, this means that the lines will become disorderly - and the sonic tanks will be in the rear.
the Bear SG before i go sleep.. i let the bigass tanks shoot the walls and destroy them.. in order that my guys can move in row by row.. disciplined and make them hold the line.. especially the sonic tanks.. in fact, the sonic tanks can be "stand alone" pieces... in that all ranges are covered by their weapons.. i built only sonic tanks when i could and abandoned building other pieces.. i'm going to sleep... goodnight
fudgester SG Ok then... Bear, missy, the pitot tube and myself can make it for Zam-Zam tomorrow night. If there are at least two other people who can confirm that they can make it tomorrow night, then we'll have it then.
fudgester SG Ok everyone... I've decided to shift the Zam-Zam outing to tomorrow night. Same timing and meeting location. Try not to be late, yah? I'll be PM-ing all attendees my contact details.
the Bear SG tired i am.. passed out for an hour... and missed the whole documentary about the megalodon
fudgester SG Which reminds me.... I'll inform av, Mookie, and Schrodinger of this change in timing. Perhaps they might be able to make it.
