SALEM, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Thousands of Kettle brand Potato
Chip flavor fiends flocked online to vote for the newest potato
chip flavor in the third annual Peoples Choice campaign. An
adventurous lot, fans chose exotic Island Jerk as the next Kettle
brand Potato Chip flavor. The newest from Kettle Foods, Island
Jerk is set to arrive on grocery store shelves in June.
Throughout the two months of voting in this years
international-themed Peoples Choice campaign, it was a tight
three-way race between Island Jerk, Dragon 5 Spice, and Twisted
Chili Lime. Ultimately, the Jamaican jerk spice with its zesty
combination of chili pepper, black pepper, cinnamon, allspice,
cumin and thyme proved to be the exotic flavors fans were craving.
Fans also bid adieu to savory Royal Indian Curry and the decadent
Aztec Chocolate featuring Dagoba® Organic Chocolate.
Island Jerk is the desert island chip -- the flavor people told
us they cant live without, said Michelle Peterman, vice president
of marketing for Kettle Foods. Its a great twist on barbeque,
evoking the lazy days of summer with its smoky sweet
complexity.
Island Jerk will be available in natural food and grocery stores
nationwide in 5 oz. bags starting June 1 and will retail for $1.99
- $2.29. The newest Kettle brand flavor will join the other
successful Peoples Choice winners: Spicy Thai, Cheddar Beer,
Tuscan Three Cheese and Buffalo Bleu.
