honeymouse SG As suggested by our Missy Rhonda, here are some of the photos I took during my site visit (2 years ago) to one of the tallest building in Melbourne (on Collin Street). Enjoy! Art Gallery The building with the crane on top is Eureka Tower, the tallest apartment in the world. The tall, glass panel building in the photo is Melbourne Central.
the Bear SG next year.. next year.. i'll go take pics of ground level feel like borrowing av's D200 for the F1... or maybe even kopi's D2Hs.. for the race, i'd need the speed of the cameras
honeymouse SG The photos below were taken from another rooftop of another building (old Mercy Hospital) in East Melbourne. Can you see the tall, brown building in the photo? On the right of that brown building, there's a building with a steel structure on the roof. That is the building I was at to take the photos I just uploaded above.
the Bear SG i wonder if the priests at the church just beside Myer's will let me take pictures of the church... it's a beautiful church.. i used to go for Mass there.. my memory fails me.. i think it's St Francis Xavier's
honeymouse SG This one was taken on top of Doncaster Shopping Centre. You can see Melbourne city from there. It's the tallest building in that area. The 2 photos below were taken from the building of Flemington Racecourse (venue for Melbourne Cup). I didn't take these photos, my colleague did. When my colleague did the works there, he had to use the helicopter instead of crane to lift the steel works (for the mobile phone antennae) up onto the roof. One of the most expensive site we have done so far. One of the buildings on Queens Road, opposite Albert Park. Yes, it would be a good spot to watch F1 Grandprix from up here and someone in my office did suggest to organise a "site visit" during the Grandprix.
honeymouse SG Caulfield Station and Caulfield Racecourse. Photo was taken from one of Monash Uni building (Caulfield Campus). See the building next to the racecourse - I used to sit for my exams there when I was studying at Monash (Clayton Campus). Photos taken from the one of the buildings of Swinburne Uni at Hawthorn.
the Bear SG my uni! i was at Caulfield Campus used to go to the Monash Day at the Races with the Monash Uni Student Card i lived a couple of train stops from there in Armadale
honeymouse SG Do you miss your uni days? I do. Once in a while, I would go back to Monash in Clayton for a visit. It has changed so much since I left. I believe Caulfield has changed too.
the Bear SG i've not set eyes on it since i left in 1995 should have changed a lot by now.. heck! it changed a lot when i was there.. with the addition of the Gryph Inn, the school pub at the end of my 2nd year
Rhonda SG Whoa!!!! The photos are amazing!! Thanks for putting them up and sharing them, honeymouse! This is really an occupational perk! Wish I could sneak up on the rooftops too!
honeymouse SG No problemo!!! Unfortunately the resolution of all the photos is not that great as we usually try to minimise the size of the photo on the work camera.
honeymouse SG Oh well... these are the photos taken during my recent (Tuesday) site visit. I went to a small town just past Colac (over 200km from Melbourne). The site is at the top of a hill and the steep track to the hill is a 4WD track but we managed to get up (after having the car to slide sidewards a few times due to loss of traction) with a Ford Falcon station wagon . Here's the photos.... some wide open fields.... This is the track I was talking about..... going down can be scary too!!
Rhonda SG Welcome back! Fwah!! It's a really steep slope you have to drive up! No wonder your car had difficulties! Going down looks scary from the last photo... but it must have been really fun too! Wheeeeee!!! Also, from the photos, we can see how bad the drought here is. Would've been much better to have green grass all around than brown dirt.
honeymouse SG Thanks Rhonda and hello Rhonda!! Ha ha.... I am glad I wasn't driving my little Echol. I was traveling with another friend at work and he's got the Ford Falcon Station Wagon. Don't think my little Echo can get up!!!
