Here's another really silly conversation with one colleague at work
:
"Well, you can speak Chinese, right?"
"Yeah! Why?"
"So, you're from China?"
"No!! I'm from Singapore!"
"But you're Chinese, right?"
"Yup! I'm a Singaporean Chinese."
"Well, but you're still Chinese, right?"
"Yeah. But I don't come from China."
"But your ancestors do, right?"
"Yeah!"
"So it's the same!"
(Me starting to get really annoyed! So apparently 'bimbo' is not
gender-specific and is not limited to hair colour either!
)
"Look, 'Chinese' is a race, just like 'Caucasian' is a race. You
can be an American-born Chinese or an Aussie-born Chinese or a
Taiwanese or Hong Konger or a Malaysian Chinese or like me, a
Singaporean Chinese, but we aren't all from China! We aren't the
same! The race is the same, but the similarities might really just
end there!"
WTF!!! 
Is this such a hard concept to grasp? We aren't even talking about
rocket science here!!
