I've done this on several occasions as our department manager has gone on record as saying that she recognizes the need for the staff to take such 'mental time-outs' when the stress level gets a bit too high in the office. She has even authorized the use of sick leave for such 'breaks.'

av98m SG Yeah, done within reason, that's good advice. I've done so myself on a number of occasions. But if you've a big event or deadline coming up, taking a 'mental time-out' on the actual day is going to be frowned on, to say the least. We had this huge nightmare of a 3 day event involving over a thousand participants last year, and one moron really decided to suddenly go on MC for the exact 3 days. Sure sign of a guilty conscience was the fact that he got his parents to make the call to the office saying he's on MC. No, I am not making this up. And the guy is like 40 yrs old Bear: Its the same looney I was talking about the other day
