Rhonda SG Hmm... the supplements don't include coupons but then again, you don't really need coupons for the discounts here! Cole's, Safeway and Woolworth's (Woolies!) offer weekly specials that make a good deal sometimes! And then, there are the K-Marts and Target stores! And you're right, groceries and clothing can be so much cheaper than in SG! And if you're patient and wait for sales, stuff like furniture, bedsheets, towels, etc can be real cheap too! We never get sales THIS cheap in Singapore! I thought I knew all about sales... until I saw how drastic the discounts here can be! It's not unusual to see discounts that are 50% or more! And you can even encounter goods for sale at a 70-80% discount even! I'm definitely NOT complaining!
Rhonda SG A workplace culture thing I encountered here : Back in SG, if you were independant, you were rated a 'good and capable worker'. Here, if you worked independantly, you would be labelled, 'not a team player, to improve on communication skills, need to learn how to utilise resources effectively'.
rainee SG I miss my days in US when I can get a bottle of liquid foundation at $6, now come back it is around RM 100 per bottle But luckily some of my frens still there, so I get them to buy back a few bottles for me
rainee SG maybelline age rewind liquid foundation...it is the 30 mL bottle...but dat brand cannot find in Msia de, so I look for similar one, found one that is Clinique brand, then it is hundred plus, Loreal one 60++
SubaruGirl SG just go on a holiday to johor in malaysia... its fucking cheap clothes, make-up everything!!!!! /me waves @rainee how you be today babe? Simsy
SpeedStar SG Ermmm I tot things in america here are expensive?? Though of buying gifts for my friends also dun know what to buy...
jetta SG It has a lot to do with where in the US you're at. Take where I live for example, this is the 11th most expensive city in the States.
SpeedStar SG But my state is not in the 11th and is alredy so expensive. Maybe I will just bring some potatoes for my friend...
Rhonda SG Hey, brey! Adjusting to the life here and haven't done much exploring. These past few days have been a bonus week though! Visited the Melbourne Aquarium last Tuesday and thinking of becoming a member because I think I'd like to return again! Then last Saturday, I went to Boxhill with a colleague who decided to drive up there and I was her lucky companion! It felt so good to be in an area where you see a lot of other Singaporeans and Malaysians and Chinese! I even managed to get hold of a pack of those dried sticky round, flat fish snacks skewered on satay sticks! But, they were quite costly at A$2.90, whereas back home, they'd cost only S$0.60 nia. Today, that same colleague drove me up to the Queen Victoria Market! My first time there! It's an interesting place but unfortunately, hard to get to if you don't have a car because think about lugging your trolley around in a tram! Besides, I'm pretty pleased with the groceries on offer at the Saturday Richmond Market. I look forward to going on day trips next! There's so much to see!
Rhonda SG I think she said she couldn't find that range in Malaysia. Sigh... that's gotta be frustrating!
Rhonda SG Sometimes, at the end of evening shifts, when I'm frustrated, tired and what-not, I will drop by the neighbourhood McD's on the way home and grab some fried gandang sticks.
SpeedStar SG Is it?? Oh no, I have been eating them everyday. Morning --- harsh bown (Mac) --- Fried potatoes Afternoon --- Curly fries (at canteen) --- Fried potatoes Nite --- French Fries (various fast food) --- Also fried potatoes This is my sop meal in boise. I think I going to fall sick liao
SpeedStar SG Bo bian, they claim to be the best potatoes in Idaho. And the most affordable things to me is gandang.
av98m SG I used to do that But nowadays our local Mc fries standard drop liao. Sometimes you even get soggy fries
Rhonda SG Biangz! Nothing worse than soggy fries! Bleah! Well, one night, after a particularly bad shift, I dropped by and bought a small serving of fries, and immediately regretted not having the large because that day, it was so nicely done! Nice, hot and crisp! So I walked home in the cold winter's night humming to myself and chucking all those fries in one-by-one, enjoying their crispness! Siiiigh... sometimes, good stuff don't need to be expensive!
