My first day in Melbourne (Saturday), I went to town on a tram and saw this landmark - Flinders Station! Very Happy

THis is a mega-huge train station! I haven't been inside yet cause I usually take a tram that stops at Collins Street (and also because it's too crowded and hectic there and I just wanna escape from that area!). Laughing

I literally took that photo whilst standing in the middle of the busy main street!

BUT, 'the middle of the main street' near Flinders is actually a tram stop!

And yes, there ARE tram stops that are located smack-a-dab right in the middle of busy main roads one! Razz I was kinda confused and fascinated and felt it was totally weird when I first realised this and alighted from the tram to find myself in the middle of the freakin' street! Surprised

I'm eating your photos up as quickly as you can post them. Laughing What interesting architecture! How old is the building? Middle of the street tram stops? Interesting!

OK, elindra, here's a photo of my kitchen! This pic was taken before I moved in! Wink

Oh, btw, I haven't used the dishwasher nor the oven yet! Razz Don't think I ever intend to use the dishwasher cause, well, what's so difficult about washing the dishes! Razz And, as for the oven, I'm DYING to use it but have yet to purchase oven ware and am leaving it aside for now cause I wanna take a breather from spending all that money getting stuff for the house for now! Wink

Nice kitchen! You have more counterspace than the place I'm buying. Crying or Very sad That's what I said about dishwashers but I'm a convert now. Again, wish we lived closer. I have lots of excess kitchen stuff, etc.

I'm not allowed to keep pets in my apartment but... it's not stopping me from keeping...

*drumroll...

... *CHIANGZ!!! Pots of Succulents!! Mr. Green

Here's Federation Square! It's pretty new and I heard from the news one night that the Victorian Govt is trying to make Federation Square an 'in' landmark and have it be associated with Melbourne the way the Sydney Opera House represents Sydney.

Advance Australia Fair !

Once a jolly swagman camped by a billabong,
Under the shade of a coolibah tree,
And he sang as he watched and waited 'til his billy boiled
"Who'll come a-Waltzing Matilda, with me?"

Waltzing Matilda, Waltzing Matilda
Who'll come a-Waltzing Matilda, with me
And he sang as he watched and waited 'til his billy boiled,
"Who'll come a-Waltzing Matilda, with me?"

Rhonda SG

Har?! *scratches head... And I'm thinking that I don't have enough counterspace! Razz Embarassed

Rhonda SG

Eh... what's this Australia Fair about? Is it going to be held in SG? Some travel/food/shopping expo thingy? Confused

Rhonda SG

One fine day, seized by a sudden cooking frenzy, I converted these ...

...into these!! Laughing

And for the next few days, I had home-cooked meals when I went to work! Very Happy

How much is the rental in melbourne?

When i was in perth, my rent was A$150 per week.

jetta SG

WAH!!!!!

Rhonda SG

I somehow love this photo very much!

I took this during a Buddha Day celebration in Federation Square. They had erected tents along the walk by the river and were selling lots of food, including Asian food, there and I snapped this shot of a few people sitting by the bench tucking into their food whilst a few seagulls kept vigil! Laughing

Come here and frenzy leh...

The rental in my area would be about A$180 per week onwards. This area is pretty near town so the rental is higher. I heard from colleagues that if you move out to the suburbs that are about 20 mins' drive or longer away from town, the rent can go down to about A$140 or so per week.
