Notice period

Honeybunz SG

Ask you all ah...

If the company requires a notice period of 10 days when you resign, does it include the weekends? Or do they only count the working days?

Eg. if the staff tender on 2 Oct, does it mean that her last day is on the 12 Oct?

sgboy2004 SG

it depends…

Xcert SG

depends on how the company wants to do it lor...if the company wants to be an @sshole...then can say its 10 working days...but most companies will take as 10 days including weekends...because there isnt really any point in forcing an employee to work for U when the heart is no longer with U..but of course lar...the employee also must know how to reciprocrate...do everything nice nice before leaving...

same point as ur example...tender on 2nd Oct....nice bosses will take it as 2nd Oct...last day on [email protected] bosses will take as 3rd Oct...end on 13th...bosses from hell will take as 3rd Oct and go check on ur handover work on the 13th...anything boss not happy...cannot take pay...must do everything for boss before going off...no hard and fast rule there...unless specified in letter of employment.

best way is to clarify when U hand in the letter of resignation...with 10 working days excluding weekends. Laughing Mr. Green

Ferret SG

Usually yes. 10 days is all right lah.

I had to tender a 2 MONTH notice >.<

ShrodingersCat SG

-cough- i did a 3 months notice once. sigh.

I think depends on type of job ba.. whether it includes weekends or not.. -frown- I dont remember NOT including weekends though usually everything calculated in....

unless temp job?

Xcert SG

wah....my friend's 2 months notice period already have problems finding new job liao...urs 3 months....power leh... Laughing Mr. Green

I think temp job's notice period also usually includes weekends...

anyway...for a 10-day notice period...most likely temp job...

the Bear SG

10 day notice usually means 2 calendar weeks…

Honeybunz SG

Shocked

the Bear SG

why? 5 working days a week..

2 weeks isn't that long... as you have seen, so many have to give longer.. from 2 to 3 months Razz

sgboy2004 SG

including surfing sgforums during official working hours and claim it is part of the job?

the Bear SG

even if you spend your last 2 weeks doing nothing, you're still serving your 2 weeks Wink

ShrodingersCat SG

Yeah. after finish the 3 months becos SO much work was given to me, I still have to go up and do backup, cleaning up and everything ON MY OWN TIME no extra pay.

And still the company Tekan me - I hv deep grievances about this company as you can see. Deep unsettled grievances. Evil or Very Mad

Xcert SG

U are still on his back after so long? Shocked Laughing Mr. Green

Xcert SG

my sympathies...

if U want to pursue ur grievances...can email MOM and see if they can help U...their email response quite fast. Laughing Mr. Green

Honeybunz SG

sigh... how come the company dun state 2 Weeks notice period instead of 10 days?

so confusing.

de_middle SG

nothing better to do, so if they find replacement they let u go earlier if not u serve out 2 weeks Very Happy

bluejuice SG

if they never state its 10 WORKING days.. then weekends should also be included…
