The airport in question is St. Maarten-Princess Juliana International Airport in the Netherlands Antilles, where the runway's underrun area extends all the way to the beach. It's a fairly short runway by international standards, so pilots of the heavies usually try to touch down as close as possible to the start of the underrun area, with spectacular results!
