The All-Important AI!

Rhonda SG

And, tell me why we need YET ANOTHER Carrie Underwood or Kelly Clarkson?? Enough already! Give us a refreshing change! A new genre!

McPhee can sing but she ain't flawless... but perhaps, you were too distracted by her two low-hanging fruits to even notice? Laughing

I still pine for Chris Daughtry! Crying or Very sad That was tragic, man! Really really tragic! Worse, his fans claimed that when they dialled his lines, they got a "Thank you for voting for me!" message for McPhee!! Surprised Mad So, cause of some stupid logistical mistake, votes meant for Chris could have accidentally gone to McPhee instead. Mad Mad

Taylor is different, and a different good. We all express our emotions differently and well, Taylor has his weird jigs! Laughing But he's vibrant and you can tell he really loves his music. He will be good for Jazz and the Blues. Can do pretty good Rod Stewart-like songs too!

And he doesn't try too hard, like McPhee! I hate it when she goes for the high notes, and flounders. Hasn't anyone else noticed that flaw? Razz She'll quickly cut short her note to try and 'hide' her shortcomings. Razz

the Taylor fella (the Jay Leno Jnr guy right?) will make a damned lousy recording artist.. because he's a pretty lousy singer... he can perform.. his "performance" hides his lousy voice...

the hobbit keeps allowing the orchestra to overwhelm him.. thing is.. it's not a very good orchestra.. he likes to choose songs which require a lot of skill and emotion.. both of which he lacks the ability to deliver..

the girl is basically a Mariah Carey wannabe.. indulges in vocal gymnastics no matter what she attempts to sing... but she's got a good voice.. needs to be told in harsh terms to shut the hell up sometimes.. less is sometimes more.. maybe she needs to learn not to be a robot.. hitting the notes and showing off range doesn't equate to good singing... i don't think she's even aware of any other methods and keeps resorting belting and screaming...

Aye do agree. I watch AI while playing WoW so I tend to listen than watch.

Taylor - I cannot stand his singing. If I don't watch his performance, my ears just shuts him out Laughing

Elliot - Yes, I complained to SO why is he always singing so softly but he is a sweet guy, or at least he seems to me so I like him He does need lots of polish still

Kat - Mesmerising eyes. She has the voice but she lacks the control and needs more polishing too.

Rhonda SG

I'm not going to watch AI again, after this season! It was extremely heartbreaking to see Mandisa and Chris leave! Crying or Very sad No more!!

elindra SG

Well, Mandisa wasn't that popular but I wasn't expecting her to leave so soon!

Chris would be a refreshing change
Didn't expect him to leave last week too

Rhonda SG

Chriiiiiiiiiis!!!! Crying or Very sad

Paula Abdul weeps at Idol ouster
Blue-eyed soul singer says he feels truly blessed

Updated: 11:54 p.m. ET May 17, 2006
NEW YORK - Tears streamed from American Idol judge Paula Abduls eyes when the result was announced. The audience stood and clapped, paying their respects.

In a close vote, Abduls favorite finalist, Elliott Yamin an Idol underdog and blue-eyed soul singer was bounced off the Fox talent contest during Wednesdays elimination show.

Ah, Elliot is gone.

OK, McPhee and Taylor left which means McPhee wins. No need to watch liao. Just have to wait for her debut album.(depending on what guidance she is given, it will either be a huge hit or an absolute disaster) And Chris's too. Taylor can go take part in kareoke contests, sing at beer gardens and cruise ships. Laughing

InnoHippo SG

Taylor should win .......

McPhee is attractive only when she is not singing Laughing

Kat has got the pipes. Good voice, good looks, almost complete package there. She can sing she just needs direction.

Taylor has got the personality, voice is decent , I can accept his style of singing, he's entertaining on the show. But in the real world he's not very commercial, and his antics wouldn't amuse for long.

I think Kat deserves to win. But I wouldn't be surprised if Taylor wins instead, he's got a powerful fan base that hasn't let him down yet throughout the competition.

Not to mention Elliot's fans may swing to Taylor, being of somewhat similiar style singer & music genre.

Either way the final turns out, I wouldn't be too disappointed... I think track record of past winners / runners-up have proven that the title is just that, a title - doesn't guarantee anything in the industry. It's been a good season, finale should be an entertaining show and am looking forward to it!

Carrie Underwwod is a country singer. Kelly Clarkson does the pop/rock thing. How are they the same? Thet don't sound the same, they don't sing the same genre. Or is it that they're both young and attractive?

McPhee can sing, and thus has the potential to do well given the right coaching.

Taylor can't sing, and he's actually smart to do all the spastic tics to distract from his singing ability. I'd say by actually making it past the audition round he's stretched his potential beyond the breaking point already. He's nothing new btw. There's plenty of his wannabe type in kareoke lounges, beer gardens and cruise ships and other seedy joints all over the country.

Yeah! Fantasia and Ruben anyone? Laughing

Rhonda SG

I thought it was extremely unprofessional of McPhee to sort of blame the record executive who chose her first song when she was criticised for not singing it well. Razz

the Bear SG

50/50

the record exec must know the strengths and weaknesses of the singer and find songs for the singer...

av98m SG

It was also extremely disrespectful of Randy Jackson to say that she chose the wrong song when he jolly well knew who chose it! Razz But yeah, McPhee should have kept quiet, considering the guy's influence in the industry. Pissing him off will be a mistake.

Rhonda SG

Aren't you tired of seeing the same old types win the AI? Razz Female, young, pretty... and whether they can sing well or not is a matter of personal opinion. Laughing

I want to see someone different win for a change. Fantasia, although female and young, was not your 'typical' kinda idol.

And we know between Ruben and Clay Aiken, who's doing better in the real world!

I'd love to watch McPhee act in her first movie! But as for genre... she doesn't really 'own' a particular genre, don't you think? Which is quite disturbing for a singer. Razz

Rhonda SG

Well, he probably thought she was 'strong' enough to 'nail it'... but she proved otherwise. Razz

choco B SG

In terms of attitude on-screen, I think Taylor's got a better attitude than Mcphee. I can imagine Mcphee to be abit ... difficult.

Thus Taylor is so much more likeable , explains his fan base & the anti-Mcphee troupes on the internet.

Of course, keeping in mind what we see on tv is edited, scripted and amplified so may not be accurate reflection of the contestant's true character.

Rhonda SG

It IS a professional mistake... kinda like professional hara-kiri... and I'm sure the industry bigwigs might not take too warmly to that. Razz But oh well, given her looks, boobs and promising tubes, she's highly marketable. Laughing

Looking at the segment where the singers had a chance to interact with the record executive, I think the one who handled it best was Taylor. He said the right things. I guess he's experienced while McPhee's still young and a greenhorn in such matters.

av98m SG

Well, I'm not going to vote for a kareoke singer with a spastic tic just to get a different type of winner! Twisted Evil

I still think Chris is out only because of a technical fuckup with the voting lines. He should be in the final, not Jay Leno's illegitimate son. Mad
