laurence82 SG I dont know When i learnt that F-15 SG is similar to the F-15E, and the conversion of our F-16s to even include the conformal fuel tank for long range attack, and that we are participating in the JSF program, are we focusing too much on attack and not much on air superiority? >.<!
Fatum SG don't have to worry too much about that for the time being .... we are trained and equipped by another tiny nation in the middle east .... who have the best fighter pilots in the world, period ... but that may change when we have to face swarms of flankers from that jaggernaut far to our north ...
Meia Gisborn SG How about a squadron of Supermarine Spitfires and Hawker Hurricanes for the RSAF in the air superiority role? I can definitely see certain tactical advantages: upon encountering them in a dogfight, the enemy with their high-tech supersonic jet fighters wouldn't know how to handle something that old and slow. They'd be high-speed-stalling and going into irrecoverable flat spins while attempting to outmaneuver the slower and nimbler prop-driven fighters. The dogfight would be over without a single shot being fired by the RSAF fighters!
sbst275 SG Strategy will have to change But good that they never went on to follow TUDM to buy the F-18 F-18 range short
Fatum SG that reminds me of one particular early sim-flight game .... a long long time ago ... I shot down an F-16 with a WWI camel sopwith ...
Meia Gisborn SG The introduction of the first version of Microshaft's Combat Flight Simulator spawned a number of third-party utilities that allowed players to construct fighters using "skins" that didn't have to be matched up to the corresponding flight models. I managed to "construct" a Cessna 150 with the flight model of an F16. Ever seen a 150 take off, go vertical and climb to 30,000 feet in two minutes?
kopiosatu SG its funny that my colleague told me yesterday. 'its a rule, that we cannot have all our "lam pa ji"s back in singapore.' i asked 'why not?' 'then our friends up there will be asking, you want to go to war ah?'
kopiosatu SG anyway, from what i heard… we’re just buying into the JSF program. not buying the aircraft.
sbst275 SG They will lose out more really They rely on us almost totally for the food exports esp in greens and poultry
kopiosatu SG they lose alot just by implementing 20rm per entry who needs missiles when they can shoot themselves anytime?
sbst275 SG OMG, that Johor Port buys a gigantic crane, but they have not handled a single containerised vessel of abv 9,000 TEU in capacity... We can still handle them with normal cranes
sbst275 SG In a sense yes... But the long haul rts stays there, contract ending soon as well So far only MSC and COSCO has such big ships.. To Malaysia, they are small fish, no they aren't... Esp MSC, in 5 years, it's PSA largest customer
kopiosatu SG why everyone talks about jets and no one asks about helicopters? i can give a 2hr tour around the puma leh.
