I used to hate these 'poseurs'... but I agree with the earlier
post. After 'growing up', I think all this childish-hating (and
posing) don't bother me much.
If the car is done up well, it deserves some credit as well. Even
if it's a TS posing as a WRX, if tastefully done, I have no
problems with that. We have S13 and S14 strawberries, EG9 converted
to DC2 etc... all quite nicely done!
Not all of us can afford the $30k more for WRX vs TS, so be fair in
judging.
I only get irritated when these so-called 'poseurs' start DRIVING
like champions with their 'fake' car, then from there I can tell
they aren't the mature, tasteful modders I thought they were who
just love to do up their car but instead true poseurs who try to
pass off as something else.
(Not that I agree with reckless driving just because its a real WRX
or Evo etc... )
The point is, doing up a car is a passion. Cars like vios, fit and
sunny don't have any higher end model to emulate, so there are a
lot of variations and funny kits from simple to crazy. But TSes,
Lancers etc.. have 'big bro' cars and its quite natural for these
owners to start off their modding with the big-bro car as a
model.
Even big-bro cars like Evo try to emulate their GT/racing bros like
Cyber Evo, CT230R or the WRX/STi trying to emulate the WRC car...
So don't these guys deserve the same hate as TS pretending to be
WRX and WRX pretending to be STi?
They don't just because they are inherently faster cars to start
with?
Just enjoy your own car, have fun at the tracks, have a few safe
friendlies on the streets, enjoy the scene.... dunno why the car
scene is full of haters and egotistic people.. It is a competitive
scene by nature, but you see some of the clubs like VW or BMW, all
friendly and mature. 318 or M3, all are welcome. I hope the scene
becomes like that eventually.
