the Bear SG zhou zhi bai which reminds me.. in school, for about half a year, people went around stealing other people's photographs which invariably appeared with a silly and obviously fake name in the student magazine we were forced to buy... things got out of hand with the abovementioned name
elindra SG Aiya...nowadays you get alot of weird sounding names which doesn't seem to leave an impression I guess parents just try to be 'too' creative these days
Rhonda SG Oh yeah!! It used to be that really eccentric names were usually found in Hong Kongers and Filipinos but nowadays, even the locals are joining in the foray! Some weird names I've come across, and this is REAL : - Winnie (like in Winnie the Pooh! ) - Baby (!!! Will she ever grow up?! ) - Swarn - Galileo (Yes! Really!) - Reddy - Wendell (Yeah... his sister is called Wendy. ) - Sushil (Parents love sushi? ) - Apple - Rain There are more... but I have a mind block now!
Rhonda SG Actually, there's an implication to giving your kids 'unique' names - no one would be able to purchase nice keychains, cups, and other merchandise with 'common' pre-printed names like David, Anna, Michael, Linda, etc on it as gifts!
the Bear SG - Winnie actually a proper name... shortened from Winnifred or something like that? - Baby brings to mind the silly show Dirty Dancing.. - Swarn bet you kena swarn like mad - Galileo uhh... he invented the telescope, you know? - Reddy again, a proper name.. She is strong.. she is invincible.. she is woman! silly and overhyped song which brought the women's movement one step forward and 20 steps back... Helen Reddy... - Wendell again, a proper name... - Sushil (Parents love sushi? ) we have a reporter.. Sushila Krishnan.. this is just without the "a" behind? - Apple okay... the braindead actress Gwyneth Palthrow actually named her child that - Rain probably a different spelling of Rayne, Rayn, Rahne.. again, pretty proper name.. you gotta check out the drugged out Phoenixes for that... only Joaquim got a proper name.. the rest were River (he's drugged out and dead), Leaf and other kinds of sillier names... the silliest of them all were from the Zappas... Frank Zappa named his son Dweezil Zappa and his daughter Moon Unit Zappa... also, i think drugs warped the mind of David Bowie.. Zowie Bowie??
elindra SG You mean for peeps like me and my brother We will never be able to purchase the 'common' pre-printed name I think you have that problem too right Rhonda?
