Rhonda SG Last year, World Reading Day fell on 3 March and a few of us in here tried to read at least one book before then, and then we all wrote our own reviews to share with all. Here's last year's thread : http://www.sgforums.com/?action=thread_display&thread_id=118495&page=0 Wondering if there's going to be a World Reading Day this year too? Has anyone seen any publicity materials on this yet? SL, would you be aware of this? I tried to google it but to no avail. The closest thing was a 'World Book Day' in the UK for the Brits only. In any case, we're nearing the end of February and 3 March is fast approaching! Assuming that there will be another World Reading Day this year on the same date as last year's, who's going to participate by reading a book before the day itself?
thinkdifferent SG Do books of facts (history, philosophy, religions, science, culture and books which enrich your soul and personality) count too or were only novels and similar books meant?
SydneyLibrarian SG Nope.. haven’t heard anything about it, I think Australia has the World Book Day too but not heavily advertised.
ndmmxiaomayi SG If not counted, not writing reviews liao. I only read non-fiction books. I barely read fiction books. The only ones I read mysteries and thrillers books.
miaow1988 SG really??there is a world reading book????wow.....i should start reading the jane austen books already...
Rhonda SG Anything, including non-fiction titles, and as long as they aren't your textbooks! Actually, there's no real definition nor criteria. Last year, NLB just recommended a few titles but as long as you're reading, you have participated in the World Reading Day. I guess, we should make this our own Club 30 annual thang! Fun, right? OK, I'm going to pick my book now... reading the thinnest book counts too, hor?
Rhonda SG Hiya, miaow1988! Your error was soooo cute! There's no ''World Reading Book'' but there is a ''World Reading Day''!
Rhonda SG You're amazing... even when you're tired, you can still read, and even better, can actually absorb and recall what you've read! Haven't you ever experienced a dry reading spell?
Rhonda SG Ahem! How old are you, ah? Cannot read fiction or non-fiction (non-textbook) izzit? You may read picture books... but we will have to place you in the 'Kindergarten' category!
Rhonda SG Erm... in that case, maybe you should suggest to the Bar forum to have a 'World Horny Day' or something!
stellazio SG how bout pictures of semi nude women? comes with ample amount of wordings too... not to mention that a good book stimulates ur mind and brings u into the fantasy world..
