ShrodingersCat SG Isn't this a lovely picture? I was looking for pictures to hang in my home when I saw this print.... selling from S$794 or something... Just loved the kerosene lamp, the hibiscuses, the pomegranate, the open window...the 2 mugs at the side... there's something so homely and cosy about this picture... it just.. hits me leh.......so... if any of you actually happens to see a print of it selling for mebbe not sooo expensive please let me know.....
ShrodingersCat SG I guess I don't mind paying that price if it is a replica in oils but... that's the price for a poster art-print and its really strange cos most of the other works of the same artist doesn't command this high a pricing Hmmm... popular work I suppose... Hmm how much would I pay for a poster art print? Maybe about $200 for a decent reproduction and size? Can't find one high resolution enough to print high resolution enough It's funny, my hubby just pointed out our set of coasters at home given by an Australian friend was by the same artist! I never noticed it!
ShrodingersCat SG no leh it will just be a canvas transfer.. hmm no 3D effect like oils hehehehehhe mebbe I'll bring the picture to BKK and ask one of the artists there to replicate it!
ShrodingersCat SG hurhurhur but i feel quite bad my double standards at work leh... its one thing to pirate CDs... but... pirate artworks... bobian, thanks god my conscience never work as hard as my wallet
Rhonda SG Hey, ShrodingersCat! I love scenes like these too! That's why I love to visit Cross-stitch sites and oogle at similar stuff there. It's common for works just like that to be converted into cross-stitch kits, btw!
ShrodingersCat SG I can't say I really like landscapes most of the time.. Hmmm.. but this one struck me. Cos of the way the scene draws the eyes around the whole.... composition. I like it! i can't sew. Failed my home econs. SO badly tt recently a friend of mine met our old homecs teachers. She asked the teacher if she remembered her, the teacher said no. Then she mentioned my name. And the teacher said "oh the one that never sews in class huh." it's scary to think you are immortalised that way in someone's memory. I was looking at jigsaw puzzle sites but can't find that particular picture though some of her other artworks are there.
elindra SG Looks like a water color painting to me but I can't really tell for sure coz it's so small It's striking coz the colors used are a bit unnatural...kinda like the artist exaggerated the colors to make the picture stand out.
Rhonda SG You must have been the only student she had who refused to sew during her class! But hey, it made you 'famous'! I remember the stuff we had to do during Home Econs. The tunic they made us sew looked really prehistoric! I really enjoyed Home Econs though. I remember when we had that module where they taught us how to fold muslin cloth nappies, I started to fold little ones using tissue paper during class, stick my two fingers through the leg holes and then make a kicking action with my fingers whilst imitating the wails of a baby, and that made my classmates giggle so much that it always disrupted class.
elindra SG I remember for my class....no one did any sewing during sewing class because no one knew how to sew Everyone brought home their tunic for mummy to sew I confess that I was sleeping through most of Home E classes except for the cooking class though I never used any recipes I learnt there I wanted to opt for shop then instead of Home E but my school was like "Girls can only take Home E" so I was kinda determined not to learn anything back then Anyway, Home E was only up till Sec 2 for me so no issues with 'O's Btw, they were teaching us how to fold a cloth diaper.....whoever uses a cloth diaper these days anyway
shinta SG thats like kinda easy isn it? need to teach de meh? i had to learn how to fold cos of my baby sis my dad's still callin her Baby~ when she's turnin 14 this year lao baby
elindra SG Of course need to teach la. To tell you the truth I can't remember how to fold a cloth diaper anymore
ShrodingersCat SG Yeah I ended up taking design and tech for O levels. Actually it is a misconception that girls can ONLY take HOMec. Me and my friends were the first batch of girls who did D&T in my school cos we insisted. The teacher was good enough to give us 'catch up lessons' in the holidays. It was FAR FAR more fun than homec.
elindra SG You don't know my principal......anyway there is a long long story behind what happened later
