Hmm... I'll probably opt for a garden party with a gazebo or
marquees, and that's it.
Or, have a small function room in a nice hotel, and have only 50
guests, and that's it.
Or, hold a party at some hotel's large rooftop garden, invite close
friends and colleagues, a few relatives, and that will have to
suffice.
I've already prepared my arsenal of answers when cornered by the
parents! 
- "So, we cannot afford a huge thingamadoo of a Chinese wedding
dinner! You still want me to get married or not?!" 
- "I threaten to elope! And you won't hear from me again, until
your grandchild is born!"
- "I'm already pregnant! How to face all the relatives? Besides,
the hotel function rooms are all fully booked till nine months
later! Then, liao... gotta bring baby along to the xi jiu!"
OK, I'm still coming up with outrageous retorts! It's a fun pasttime!
Always be prepared! And, like the ACS motto goes, "The Best Is Yet
To Be!", so, there must be cornier answers that are yet to be
thought of!
